Here is the final panel of my test. The section marked "March 20" was exposed to the elements 24 hours/day from March 20-October 20 at 41* N Latitude give or take a few minutes. In the panel on the left, the top panel is dyed with the same dye, the bottom panel is not dyed. The color is TransTint Red Mahogany in Alcohol, covered with three coats of Minwax Helmsman exterior spar polyurethane. There is fading, but it is not completely faded, and your kayak will never see that amount of exposure to the sun. Additionally, if you're using West 207 you'll be adding a lot more UV protection.
