Thanks everyone! I'm still fairly early in the process of stripping the boat, so it weill be some time before this reaches a decision point. But the consensus seems to be that over the fiberglass, and sealed, it should work. I'd hate to sacrifice functionality for aesthetic, but it seems like the biggest tradeoff is just a bit of extra weight. I'll be sure to post an update as I get closer...
