This is my first time building a kayak. I am currently drawing the forms for the Guillemont Kayak as per the 'The strip-built sea kayak' book and have run into a problem with the form for the bow. The image depicting the form (page 56, Fig. 4-12) shows that the cutout starts from a point above the DWL in my book. The problem is that, as far as I can tell, it does not say how far above the DWL to start the cutout. I have already checked the site on the guillemont-kayaks website where corrections are listed and there is no mention of this there. I have also tried to look at various other websites where individuals have documented their builds to see if they had listed any information or had any pictures I could use to gauge this but came up empty handed.
I fear this may be something simple that I am missing (and if so i apologize) but also suspect this may be an error in the book since the end forms for the two other kayaks in the book as well as the end form for the stern of the guillemot all have measurements relative to the DWL for the cutouts ( page 54, Fig. 4-8 and page 58, Fig. 4-16). Could someone please verify this or let me know how they approached it, ie. what measurements they used relative to the DWL?
Thank you,
Justin
