There really is an easy and safe way to do this. The allergin (sp?) usually is the amine in the hardener, once the hardener/resin is cured it's not the same material and the hazard is gone. Fully hardened resin also sands easier, doesn't gum up the paper like partially cured resin tends to do. Easy way is to take a break when you get near the sanding phase and let the resin cure completely. Then it's just a dust situation and not an allergy one.

Btw, a dust blower works MUCH better than a shop vac and there are several shop filters (big box that draws air thru a fine filter) that do wonders for the shop's air quality, there are plans for some of these that can be built for very reasonable prices.
