The typical Greenland paddle is symmetrical (both sides of each blade are curved in the same manner - no concavity).
An excellent free source for carving a paddle is Chuck Holst's download available at:

For a modest cost you can't beat Brian Nystrom's book.

Be as careful as you can when drawing the outline of the paddle on your wood. That's really the hardest part.
