Good surface prep is essential and good clamping pressure. If you do that right the joint is amazingly strong. Just be sure and use No 3, the waterproof glue.
Epoxy should work just as good. There is just more room for error in mixing or over clamping. I have used both with good results. I just like Titbond since there is no mixing and it is less messy.
