This is simple. Use slow hardener for wet-out, not fast. And it helps to do it in a warm shop. Save your fast hardener for other tasks. BTW, I've had excellent results by using one brand for wet-out and another for fill, so you have some flexibility if you want to switch back to Raka for wet-out and use your Silvertip for fill. That being said, testing is key when deviating from standard practice.

: How can I solve this problem?

: All, I'm having problems getting my epoxy to wet out 6 oz
: fiberglass completely.

: I had gotten spoiled with the excellent wetout of Raka on boat
: number one (and didn't know it), but frustrated with the speed
: and number of fill coats needed, So I switched epoxy brands for
: the current kayak.

: The fabric is from Sweet Composites, and the epoxy is System Three
: Silvertip (fast). I'm not having problems with bubbles, but it
: looks like epoxy is not soaking into the threads completely, you
: can see silver rays running the direction of the weave. Some of
: these rays are 1 or two inches long. Working the epoxy seems to
: help, but it foams up poorly.

: What is a good option?
: 1) Use Raka for wet out, then Silvertip for fill, it builds up
: thicker without running better than Raka.
: 2) Use a bubble buster roller to work the epoxy in and deal with
: the foam.
: 3) Throw out $200 worth of epoxy and buy something else, but what?

: Thanks in advance,
: Mac
