A Goose Neck Scraper is a great piece of kit for removing a lot of stock, it's suprisingly quick and the price at around $US5 is right. It can be a bit hard on the hands over prelonged us though. I also made my own contoured sanding block which still required a lot of elbow grease but I made long enough to take a full length sheet and put 2 handles on it so I could at least get two hands to the job. I glued the sand paper to the block with sanding disc cement. I also found using the more expensive sand paper more effective the cheap stuff which just wore out too quickly.
