Hey, waitaminute, Scott...I excel in which area? I assure you, there is nothing boring or exagerated in the story to come. This trip I count two dead cameras, my Pentax Optio WP and Linda's spanking new Olympus 6000. Both suffered leaking seals and were killed by the salt water. There were no rogue waves but the swells reached 8-feet and of course, Mal didn't tell me about the small craft warning until a few days after the trip, or if he did, I didn't hear. He did mention that swells were expected to reach 18 feet but that wasn't going to deter me as long as the chop was manageable. As it turned out, those darned littler waves that rode up my butt did me in. The Wilderness Cape Horn that I rented was tippier than I was used to and, of course, I was using a rudder which I am not used to using. The rudder was a necessary evil and really helped...at least it helped until things got a bit hairy and I ruddered left instead of right. A knee-jerk reaction does not do anyone any good asea if they aren't sure which knee to jerk. The pictures are very nice, not the 35 mm SLR kind but the Olympus served me well during the kayaking trip. I am sure you will enjoy our report.
