: I am just building the strongback for my guillemot and have cut out
: all the forms. I am just about to cut off the taper on the end

I've never built with an interal strongback, just seems odd to me, but it works for Nick. I like internal stems though, makes the construction so much easier since the strips can be both stapled and glued to the stem. I normally very lightly hot glue it in place, couple small dabs of hot glue, and this can be relatively easily removed from the frames/strongback after the hull is built.
Someone that's built using Nick's method can correct this if this doesn't work building that way :)
