Nice write-up, Malcolm. On a gp note, I noticed early on during our paddle to Jost that you had no problems making your kayak move easily with the gp. Your stick looks skinny but it seemed to be more effective that the euro paddle I was using. The Cape Horn was definitely affected in a negative manner by the wind and water...much so that my VJ or the Night Heron I build last summer. I expect to build another NH this summer (get the full length plans ready, Nick) then I'm going to ship it to you. That will set us up for the next time I come down...then we can do some proper kayaking without all that assisted rescuing business.
