Even though I have lots of much nicer planes, for work with strips I normally use a Stanley 12-101 finger plane that costs all of about $10. For tiny little strips it's just easier. Can get the Harbor Freight version that's almost an exact copy for $6, I use them for the classes I teach and they work just great, very sharp right out of the box too.
