: I am building a Guillemot Double and in the market for a low angle
: block plane. My question is: Do I need an "Adjustable
: Mouth" block plane, or is a regular low angle block plane
: sufficient? I am willing to spend the extra for the adjustable
: mouth but I am uncertain if I need it. I am looking at the
: Lie-Nielson's planes specifically.
: Block Plane: http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?sku=102 ($115)
: Adjustable Mouth: http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?grp=1216
: ($165)
: Any thoughts are welcome.
I just bought a very reasonably priced Stanley block plane from Lee Valley a couple weeks ago. It' got nice adjustment controls plus throat depth adjustment. I've been very happy with it. It's ten times the cheap home hardware junker I had been using. I'd love to have a Lie-Kilsen, but for $37.50 CDN, this one's the cat's arse.
