The picture was taken with a "land-based" Lumix "point and shoot" camera. I have to say, I have hashed it out from one end to the other and I am absolutely sold on the Lumix... Even if you go with an older model. Just make sure they have the Leica lens. There are a few that don't have the Leica and believe me that's the one you want. If you go to any review site the Lumix always ends up on top.

The Optio is, however, a great camera and Amy used one for a long time before we got the Lumix, ironically when she left the Optio in a taxi cab in Peru. Either camera is a great camera. I lean towards the Lumix. Please note you may pay slightly more for the Lumix. I believe that is due to the more expensive optics. No matter what megapixels or processor or whatever, if you don't have a good lens you start off on the wrong foot.

Good luck! Let me know what you end up with. Remember there's really no right or wrong or best or worse- it depends on what you want most and what price you can afford. Every camera will have its good side and bad side. I strongly suggest you check www.photographyblog.com because he uses the same images to compare every camera and you get a great side-by-side comparison no mater which camera you want to look at. He's reviewed most of the popular models. Certainly helped me in my decision.
