I used WRC and had a mahogany stem that looked really nice.. well, I used Solarlux med brown mahogany and it blended in, no contrast btwn it and the WRC. Granted, the rest of the boat had no details or contrasts that I cared about, so I think it still looks great. I can imagine it would take away the contrast in a case like yours.. not sure of thinning advice or alternatives for your scenario.

: Building a hybrid and used eastern white cedar and western cedar
: along with some redwood strips to make a nice but simple pattern
: on the deck. Then bought some solar lux med red mahogany.Did a
: small test and it seemed ok but after putting one coat on with a
: rag it is way,way too dark for me.
: All the wood looks the same, you can't see any patterns or
: difference in the wood tones.
: Glassed it and it is done.
: Anyone using the med red mahogany? Are you thinning it to lighten
: it?
: Kind of bummed that I have almost totally lost the wood strip
: look..maybe it will look better in the daylight.
: thoughts?
