My partner's kayak is a varnished S&G. The common question is "How old is it?"

The other story - note, we didn't at this stage have cockpit covers. We were heading home after a day and night of rain and no kayaking. The first village we stopped in and the rain had stopped, I climbed up on the van and started pumping out the cockpits. My partner was nearly rolling on the pavement with laughter at the expression on the face of a girl who was walking past - didn't she know I always pump out the cockpits when in town?

Someone mentioned price of cedar - I've just finished another GP - $17 for wood, 50c? $1? for epoxy, 50c or less of linseed oil.
