Re:Paint - I've painted about 4 or 5 boats with oil based paint. I figured "why am I adding oil based tints to oil based varnish" when I can mostly get the colors I want in an oil based paint? Lately I've just been using Rustoleum (not the spray!), though I have use linseed oil based porch paint, as well. Rustoleum, at least, also adheres to polyester resins used as body fillers on cars (Bondo) and adheres well to polyester fabrics, too. Rustoleum also has marine paints which work great too, but are unavailable around here. I don't know what the difference is, except for price . . . .

Anyway, the jury is still out on just how long and well they last on a kayak. So far, so good. I should also mention that gloss paints on skin boats require just about as much care to apply as they do on wood, including light sanding between coats!

As for construction guides, I have done a few for other boats that folks expressed an interest in building. I'll do one for this boat, too, though there's no eta as of yet.

And, thanks for all the compliments - but there are plenty of flaws, up close, that I can see!
