I think everyone here knows of my deep and abiding love of my Redfish seat, well I managed to find a local source of mincell so I thought I would have a go at a decent seat myself. It is altogether a simpler setup to the Redfish, but I had it out for a test ride yesterday and it is oh so very comfortable.
It was very easy to carve with a surform-Plane and my orbital sander, (much better behaved than I had expected), and I was probably a little too aggressive with it to start with, but I slowed down a bit and it finished fine.
The cockpit on the boat is quite small so I opted to keep the seat in two pieces so that I could remove it without turning it into a pretzel. The backrest holds the seat down.
As it turns out, having a bit of extra space between the cockpit and the rear bulkhead came in handy for holding the whole thing snugly in place.
The minicell wasn't cheap 50 euro for the job.
I have added seven pictures to my website of the whole two hour project.
