: Redfish seat, well I managed to find a local source of mincell
: so I thought I would have a go at a decent seat myself. It is
: altogether a simpler setup to the Redfish, but I had it out for
: a test ride yesterday and it is oh so very comfortable.

: It was very easy to carve with a surform-Plane and my orbital
: sander, (much better behaved than I had expected), and I was
: probably a little too aggressive with it to start with, but I
: slowed down a bit and it finished fine.

: The cockpit on the boat is quite small so I opted to keep the seat
: in two pieces so that I could remove it without turning it into
: a pretzel. The backrest holds the seat down.

: As it turns out, having a bit of extra space between the cockpit
: and the rear bulkhead came in handy for holding the whole thing
: snugly in place.

: The minicell wasn't cheap 50 euro for the job.

Looks nice also looks much line mine :)

I use an angle grinder to carve the majority of the foam out, it's VERY agressive and goes really fast, then finish with the orbital sander. Actually I build a scrap wood "box" without a bottom or top to hold the foam in place and stake it to the grass outside to do the cutting and let the rain get rid of the black dust from the minicell. Much easier than trying to clean up the mess in the shop :)

The box keeps the foam from flying into the next county when the angle grinder gets a hold on the foam, if you don't do this you tend to spend a bunch of extra time chasing the foam blank all over the yard/shop.
