If I have precoated the wood before applying the glass, I only apply one coat on the glass. If I have not precoated, I apply one fill coat. The reason being that 1 coat of epoxy applied to glass and bare wood at the same time often leaves some tiny pinholes which can allow water intrusion some time in the future. With a total of 2 epoxy coats, no pinholes.
