There's a very useful tape called flat twine. Haven't used it yet but plan to get it for binding laminated glue-ups, hull planks and masts. It's transparent, sticks only to itself, elastic, and of course multiple layers will increase the pressure. Because it has no adhesive it leaves no trace and will not pull off finishes. Lee Valley (sorry, Canada only as far as I know) carries it (www.leevalley.com) or you can google ...
