Albus is Latin for "white" and is a hybrid of poplar/cottonwood. I bent some just to test it and it bent ok, but had some compression marks on the inside. I doubt that it has much rot resistance but I don't know this for sure. It is fairly cheap - I paid $3 / bd ft. But pine is still cheaper.
