: I have built 2 different SOF kayaks one was an 11' x 28" multi
: chine and multi piece ribs that were screwed together, (I will
: never make another of these, unless I follow my own directions
: and not thiers) it felt very tippy, but I got used to it. It was
: skinned with a canvas drop cloth then painted with exterior
: paint, worked very well and CHEAP (maybe $20 cloth, and whatever
: a gallon of paint costs). I have also built the Sea Tour 15, I
: found the shallow V hull was much more stable then the multi
: chine, although it did lean a little at first, and I loved the
: simplicity of the frame and being very involed with Cub Scouts,
: Boy Scouts and Venture Crews(another bsa group)I loved the fact
: that they are lashed together, unfortunatly I am to heavy for
: it, the water line sits just a hair below the top of the
: gunwhales at the cockpit. I also used 400 denier nylon with a
: urathane coating (pack cloth) for the skin, no heat sealing like
: the PVC and much lighter in wieght, I placed a bead of marine
: glue on the gunwhale and then just stapled it on, did the same
: for the deck, used one solid piece for the deck then cut my
: cockpit out. I have a couple more finish details to complete on
: it then I will start on another only I am going to beef up the
: keel so there is less flex in the middle when I get in. I am
: trying to find the right size and shape boat then I plan on
: building a stripper. I will get a couple of pics and post them
: later.

Can't have too many boats :)

I'm seriously thinking of building Tom's Sea Dart, the plan was modified at my request and then I never built it, got involved with the ongoing catamaran kayak build. Still I think this is the ideal boat for me. First though I need to get the garage and the shop set back up.
