: Good morning everyone, I hope all is well.
: the merganser is moving along quite well , I glued in the skeg box
: last night and all looks good. my question is with the skeg
: cable tube.
: How well should that be supported.
: like a brake cable on a bicycle the less movment the better. the
: tubing is a very stiff plastic , the kit came with clips to hold
: tubing down.
: since this is a S&G boat with no shear strip there isnt a whole
: lot of places to screw the tube to without adding wood.
: SOOO
: 1) glue in a few pieces of wood to secure tubing to
: 2)sheath plastic tube with copper tube to keep it nice and stiff
: less support needed ?? (overkill perhaps)
: 3) best routing ?? straight to corner of bulkhead then direct to
: slider or turn left to hull then along hull/through bulkhead to
: slider ...
: many thanks

The only boat I've got with a skeg, the NDK Greenlander, only has the cable anchored at the ends, the middle is completely unsupported. Has worked well enough to last for some 15 years or so, it's not a new boat.
