First boat I built had that happen to me. I tried fine sanding it, but still wasn't happy with the results. I carefully sanded down to the wood and put masking tape above the sheer line a few inches and below the sheer line. Then used scrap glass that I used on the deck. When epoxy was leather stage i cut it off and hit the edge with a scraper the next morning. Quick and transparent! I only use glass tape for the inside seam work now.
