. I've never removed glass
: using heat but nice to know it's possible and I may go that
: route. Any tips for doing that with a heat gun? I'm guessing I'd
: have to grab it with pliers or some such and pull as its heated.
I've used a heat gun in one hand and a putty knife in the other. A long handled knife is better. A heat resistant glove also helps. You'll be aiming the heat gun at the same spot that you're trying to grip to lift the old glass, and without the putty knife and/or glove, it is easy to get burned.
The temperature difference between the glass not coming off without taking slivers of wood, and being hot enough to scortch the glass is fairly small. Keep the heat gun moving and don't rush.
