: ...

: I am almost a 40 years old paddler... not looking for a racing boat
: for sure ;)
: I just need a boat light weighted, easy to carry on the beach or to
: pick up on the car roof, and easy to paddle in all conditions.
: I know I won't go out for long expeditions but I want to feel free
: to do it anyway.
: I would have liked the F1 by cape falcon but I don't need to surf
: such of big waves and not sure will be that easy to build as
: there are no cross sections and table of offsets.
: Yes the Sea Bee is also a very nice design but I think 15' can be
: more efficient than 13' (is there a longer sea bee design maybe?
: I only noticed there is a soft chine version).
: So all these things drive me to the sea tour 15, just torn between
: hard or soft chine version.

: Also I love the boats with flat aft deck and fairly plumb ends,
: like the f1 or Bill Hamm's building style (I saw a sea bee like
: that somewhere).
: I read these more vertical ends (bow and stern) would be faster but
: wetter. How much wetter?

So far my classes have built a Sea Bee and a single chine Sea Tour 15 both with my covering method. That last one with a modified (raised) deck is a very pretty boat and for most paddlers will be as fast as they'd be in a longer boat and will be somewhat lighter weight too. The multichine version I suspect will be very pretty too.

More vertical ends tends to reduce flare and that flare tends to keep water off the deck. But unless you're paddling in a big chop and at a fairly fast rate it doesn't matter much as most of the water will end up on the deck and not make it back all the way to the cockpit.

Btw, I'm almost 60 and I like long fast boats, age has nothing at all to do with it :)
