If you paddle rough water and conditions do as I do.....NDK style rubber hatches. Quick and easy entry and bone dry no matter what. Yakima footbraces through bolted. You could endo and drive your legs through a skimpy bulkhead..think entrapment...
I have tried several wood hatch variations and they are either slow or wet. It was hard accepting the look but I have to go with the safest.
