I like a minicell pad instead of foot braces, but it only suits one paddler and I tend to have lots of people paddle my boats. It's much like how old WW kayaks were set up with a foam footrest. Done right it's quite comfy.

I buy my minicell from CLC in small quantities, their prices seem better than everyone else and they ship right away. Sweet composites: http://www.sweetcomposites.com/Minicel.html , has the best prices I've seen for bulk orders someone here recommended them before.

LOL, sure I'll send you my favorite paddle, not :) It looks much like every other greenland paddle except the blades are shaped somewhat like a conventional canoe paddle. I'll have to see if I can post a pix.

Oh yeah backband: I use the off the shelf Snapdragon back band, it's fairly comfy and relatively cheap.
