Good advice, thanks! I will have a lamination of sorts but with some wood and carbon already shaped properly and sandwitched b/w the foam sheets. The foam will be sticking above all these harder areas before sanding and the goal is to sand just enough to level it with the wood below at the seams. So hopefully, no problem with sanding that I can see. Then the whole thing will be wrapped in carbon. Watch the space over the next few weeks as I will post how my paddle making experiment turns-out.

: Epoxy is one of the best things to use.

: The epoxy wouldn't chemically melt the foam ... but it could if it
: produced a lot of heat while curing. BUT if you're just gluing
: pieces together ... that should be no worry if you're using a
: slow cure epoxy and because you'll be putting it on in a thin
: coat

: Don't try anything with solvents like regular contact cement ...
: the solvents will definitely melt the foam.

: Also don't try anything that requires off gassing to cure like
: construction adhesive ... because the foam will not allow the
: gasses to escape.

: If you have to sand across glue joints ... don't glue all the way
: to the outside ... because the hard glue line will be difficult
: to sand without dishing out the foam between laminations.
