As a beginner who had to buy tools to build a boat, I have the japanese saw that CLC sells - both the bigger one and the bonsai saw. I've had many reasons for using the pull saw - much less so for using the bonsai saw. BUT- the bonsai saw has come in handy (though, to do it over and save a few bucks, I'd probably pass on it).
