Other: Foot-operated bilge pump?

I want to install a foot-operated bilge pump in my kayak. Any recommendations? Also, the do-it-yourselfer in me is telling me I should be able to make something myself from PVC pipes, etc, but I'm wondering if anyone else has ever tried making his own, and what were the results. Thanks.
