Heat works with most any adhesive, but don't screw around. Get 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover if you buy it at a painters' supply, or 3M Adhesive, Wax and Tar remover if you buy it a retail auto parts store. It's the same product, but the retail version comes in an aerosol, which is strangely enough less convenient/useful. If something is really stuck or on a vertical surface, put the product on paper towel and lay the saturated paper towel over the adhesive residue and give it a few minutes to work. Then simply wipe it off.
