I have an older s&g kayak that has taken a lot of abuse and in need of a refurb. There was some rock damage and delaminations so I have removed the old glass and sanded down to bare plywood in most places. The plywood is solid but is no longer suitable for a bright finish and I will paint

I am thinking that there is no need for fill coats and I will go straight from glassing, to epoxy and microballoon fairing compound, to primer and paint.

Does anyone see problems with this sequence?
