In real cold arctic water the natural materials which were used by aboriginal builders were the only things around. When they rotted they were replaced with fresh stuff. The cold temperature slowed down the natural decomposition. So, wiil you be able to store this boat in a meat locker between paddle sessions?

Artificial lasts longer and is much easier to obtain in the lengths you'll need.

When you can get a couple hundred feet of natural sinew and 3 walrus hides you might consider making a museum-quality replica for some museum, but if you plan to paddle in warm waters then use the modern materials
