So. I decided to buy some veneers (bloodwood) and draw/cut out my own laminated designs (Packfic Northwest themeS). Did that...made two. They came out(after 6 hours of experimenting) pretty damn neat. They were about 9" x 5". They both had numerous CutOuts in the designs (12-15). I glued them on...no problem. Put on a coat of epoxy to solidify them. Never fiberglassed before so I was concerned that all the cutouts wood leave "bridges" that the glass might sink into. SO...inspired ( don't yell/scream/nag)...I put secondary spots of epoxy into ALL the cut outs( read "holes" here). Did I mention that both have parts on vertical surfaces? Anyway, yeh, I got some pretty good runs and GLOBS (there is a reason that the "G" word is capped). I waited 3 days...the epoxy hardened up...except for the GLOBS/Runs. it's been unusually cool...60's...and wet. Been waiting to glass but this spring has held me back with the hardening factor. QUERY? WILL the globs ever harden up to the point that I could 60 grit sand them off? they are in intricate areas and slicing them looks dangerous. I've waited a while to finish this Night Heron....and can wait longer...but those GLOBS just seem to be staying...a little malleable. Please, don't tell that 1/32" cutouts woodn't have been a bridge problem for the fiberglass...arghh/Yikes/darn! Someone told me to hair dry those GLOBS...but think that might just soften em up. SOMEONE...HELPPPPPPPpppp! vic in Kansas
