Hey, Bill, you are quite right about this. There isn't all that much epoxy being used.

What happened to me for my first build, was that I had to go out and buy all the stuff. So I was out getting a can of resin, and hardener, and metering pumps, and mixing containers (I hadn't started saving plastic food containers yet...) and colloidal silica filler, and... well, you get the idea. This stuff added up cost-wise, and I bought the epoxy during the high gas prices a few years ago, so it was even more expensive then. Of course, I had plenty left over, enough to put a carbon/fiberglass sleeve on a broken Greenland paddle, twice.

Also, I probably could have built that boat in 3/4s the time I did if I didn't have to run out to the big orange box store seemingly twice a day to get something else...

But, I still have a half a sheet of ply - all I need is the gumption to lift offsets from the plans of the '59 Illorsuit Greenland kayak. That, and someplace to store another kayak...
