: Getting ready to "close the clam" on my Outer Island
: V.2.0 project, am subscribing to my custom of going through the
: literature beforehand, to review the basics, try to make sure
: I'm not forgetting or otherwise overlooking any previously
: collected wisdom. I've learned to do this on about every third
: boat or so.......
: I once tried packing tape to hold hull and deck together, but just
: once; it was so traumatic I never even thought about it again.
: Well, I mean it worked okay, but removing the tape is where the
: nightmare began. It left sticky strands everywhere and ten tons
: of tenacious stickum residue to somehow clean up. But I've just
: re-read Uncle Nick's book and there he is espousing packing
: tape. So what's the deal, did I just get cheap stuff or what?
: Nobody would volunteer for the experience I had.
Just finished wrestling with that very same problem. I won't use the reinforced packing tape again, but I will say, whatever tape you use, slathering on the Goo-Gone will get rid of the reswidue really fast. I experimented with a lot of things, and it came out as the clear winner. Good luck!!!
: What's the best way to go about this, and I'm especially interested
: in hearing from guys who've put a lot of these things together:
: Mr. Schade, Mr. Macks, Mr. Babina, et al.?
