I went to Lowe's today, couldn't find any 3M packing tape with strands. Saw some 2" stuff like Uncle Rob talks about. Wasn't desperate enough to tackle Wal-Mart. Talk to me! Just days away from closing the clam on this thing....

Malcolm, I just saw your quizzical query regarding bias-cut cloth fraying frettings. I can only reply that it's just endlessly fascinating how different things work differently for different people in this nutty business. I find bias-cut cloth strips to be easy to produce, very economical and waste-free, and totally devoid of fray problems. In fact, the total lack of fraying is one of the reasons I'm so, well, biased towards it.

I tend to be a huge Rob Macks fan, but even there I won't touch his roller thing with a ten-foot pole. And I even gave rollers another fair shot recently, and found 'em intolerable as ever. You could make yourself crazy thinking about this sorta stuff too much. Fortunately, I never was one to think too much.
