Yeah, I read that post about color fading, very strange.
I agree about contamination being a possibility. If I can't come up with something else to try, I think I'll gently sand the varnish around the spot that's peeled, wipe the whole area down with mineral spirits, and recoat. Maybe, if I'm very fortunate, that's the only area and it will stick this time. As long as I can get it through the summer I won't mind reskinning next winter since I want to modify the frame anyway.
