Skin-on-Frame: Outdoor upholstery fabric for skin?
In search of a cheap skin material I found a Polyester fabric with a PVC coating on one side that is designed to be used for outdoor furniture. It seems to be fairly heavy, and the PVC side is waterproof. However I only had to scratch the coating to cause it to leak. It's obviously going to need to be painted before it can be used. But I wanted to get some opinions about it.
Will oil based paints or laquer stick to the polyester and/or the PVC side?
Has anyone used anything like this before?
I hope it is usable because it is only $3.99 a yard.
