The advantage of skinning with PVC fabrics, to me, is that as soon as you've skinned the boat, it's done - no coating necessary.
If you have to coat it anyway, then just use a superior fabric - 8oz polyester from George Dyson is only $6 a yard - $2.01 more is easy to swallow.
