: I have all the materials for my frame, and I just got my budget for
: covering it: $100. I am building Yost's 13' Sea Bee, probably
: the multi-chine version. I am completely new to kayaking, and
: kayak building. I will be kayaking in some local brush lined
: creeks and small lakes in WV. I really like the look of some
: boats I have seen with white nylon fabric and a clear finish,
: but I'm sure that some look could be obtained with different
: fabrics, although yellowing of the finish could be a concern.

: Knowing all this, what would be the best way to cover my kayak
: (including any sewing or glueing) for under $100?

I got an email back from Dyson about fabric, and I think I am leaning toward 8oz Polyester since I think it will be a better match for the plain polyurethane I will likely coat the boat with. I still need advice on what type of coating to use though. I am worried about puncture, abrasion, and yellowing (and cost of course).
Also, Dyson recommended plain dental floss for sewing. Is this a common thread for SOFs?
