: I too recommend 8 oz polyester from Dyson (or some of his heavier
: fabrics in polyester or nylon) and single part polyurethane.

I used water-based Varathane over polyester (from Tacoma Tent and Awning) on my Skinny Walrus about 10 years ago. The skin and finish has held up great in spite of being stored outside for the past several years. It is milky white when applying it, but turns clear when it dries.
