I don't want to pick a fight but what you posted isn't helpful, at all. The world and the internet are brimming with folks who hold unfounded opinions about everything. We can't waste our time wringing our hands over all of it.
Also it is not very helpful to know that these girls "were found dead today after a kayaking accident" but, specifically, what errors or outside forces contributed to their deaths.
Every one of us will get into a jam on the water eventually and the more we know the better chance we'll have of returning safely.
: Two girls were found dead today after a kayaking accident late
: yesterday. Among the incredible comments on the local
: newspaper's web site:

: This just shows that kayaking should be more regulated. We need
: licensing for a start. With proper training these women would
: have worn wetsuits. Because the government does not require
: licensing and training these poor women died. With more patrols
: the Coast Guard would have caught these unlicensed kayakers,
: given them citations for operating without a license,
: confiscated their kayaks, and made them sit overnight in jail to
: think about it. They would be alive today if we had more laws.
