I placed hip cheek pieces in as foam attachment points. These could double as attachment points for a backband. As for the backband I chose to create a simple steep foam "ramp" that is really only used when I lay back and roll. Think of a very tall, thin right triangle. I too was tired of having backbands in tight fitting boats slide under my butt as I got in. The foam is cheap, simple and works very well. I found a 1/4 piece of mini cell made for a great seat too. The photo in this link shows how thin the wedge of foam is for my backband. DOnt forget the float bags. I used the NRS split floatation bags.

You are going to love using this boat. Its a very forgiving kayak. The learning curve for short boat surfing can initially be a bit steep but once grasped will keep you entertained for a very long time.
