You need to look no further than driving statistics for confirmation. Roads are better, cars are better built and they're bristling with safety devices (roll cage, construction, seat belts, air bags, ABS, TCS, AWD, etc., but the number of fatalities annually has not dropped. People are far less engaged in the activity of driving because all of these "advances" allow them to turn their brains off and ignore the need to learn driving skills, so accidents still happen at an alarming rate. It's the reason that the most common vehicles one sees in the ditch during the winter up here are SUVs. People have a sense of invincibility and they assume that they can drive as fast as they want and the vehicle will deal with anything that comes up.
What I suspect will happen with the Saw Stop is that when faced with a choice in setting up for a challenging cut or when one is in a hurry, learned safety practices will be set aside more readily since you have the stop mechanism "just in case". That will inevitably lead to accidents, many of which will probably be completely unrelated to Saw Stop feature.
