I've buile three boats and made mistakes with all of them, adn with yourproblem i would recommend using a heat gun and go slowley with it using a scraper to pull off the offending tape. I once pulled off the entire outer skin of a strip canoe this way. Just take you time. The nice thing about resin is it responds to heat nicely.
