: Hi, this is my first post here but have been following this forum
: for quite some time.

: First of all I want to say thanks to Nick for hosting this site, to
: Tom Yost for his site and the many people who post here for the
: excellent information you provide.

: I have built Tom Yost's Sea Tour 15 R. I am now looking to build a
: kayak for another member of my family. The kayak will be used
: for day trips on inland lakes and small rivers only by a paddler
: with no previous kayaking experience. Paddler weight is 195#,
: Paddler height 5'3". I am looking for high primary
: stability. I have been looking at Tom Yost's Sea Tour 15 Exp.
: and have a few questions.

: Does this kayak have good primary stablity?
: I see this kayak has a capacity of 300#. Is the volume of this
: kayak a little to high for the paddler parameters I have given?
: If it is, could I reduce the width of this kayak slightly and
: maintain good primary stability?
: Are there other designs I should take a look at?

: Thanks for your help.

Might look at the Sea Bee, we've used them often around here for similiar use, fun for more experienced people too. Has great stablity and is short enough to make handling on shore easy.
