Which is why no one ever would think of using fibreglass for a kayak. Totally unknown material - stick to wood, proven over thousands of years.

Which is also why you would never have plastic kayaks either, they'll be using recycled plastic before you know where you are...

Do you actually know how the cardboard and foam are to be used? Use wood incorrectly, use the wrong glue, use the wrong design - can also equal disaster.

Someone mentioned corrugations. I didn't presume corrugated cardboard. The kayak prototype I saw was solid cardboard.

By the way, don't venture out of your cave, too dangerous, probably be eaten by a sabretooth tiger.
